Crossover cable

Decided to have a little LAN session at a friend’s house. Set up the room, including putting together some plastic table that was stored away in the garage, got the PCs set up, then took a look at the network cable we had and realised something was wrong.

This was sadly before intelligent network adapters, so we really did need to get our hands on a crossover cable. Oooor, MacGyver up our own! Fortunately there were some breadboards around in the house, so we hacked the cable in two and just made our own temporary little crossover cable.

You can also see that the camera used to take this photo must’ve been fairly new – its box was used to support the little construction!
